To me that sounds like a lot of wood. Just food for thought - I used 4 each 1x10"x10' clear Cedar cut into 3/4"x1/4" thick strips with bead and cove which reduced the width to 5/8". With this I build an 18' Guillemot "L" including 5 bulkheads and had 4ea. 10' strips leftover - - for the next boat :)
I started out scarfing joints then switched to plain butt joints. Wished I had all butt joints. I can easily see every scarf joint but really have to look to find the butt joints.
