I have not tried it. I fill small holes with glue. I have done this with two kayaks and many other projects and it works pretty good.
Just press glue into the holes, wipe up any overflow. While it is still wet go over it with a random orbit sander. The Sanding dust will mix with the glue and seal the holes. Don't use a attached vac, you need the extra dust. As with any glue puddy it will be a little darker than the wood.
