For bouyancy I tape/tie together 2pint UK, (approx 2.2litre) platic milk cartons in a shape
to fit the area in front of my foot rests and to fill as much of the rear of the boat as is not
wanted on the day for storage.
Being of virtualy square section, there is little space between them.
I havn't taken them out and counted them but I am guessing that there are in the region
of 55 to 60 in total.

Well, a liter of water weighs 1 kg, more or less, so 60 milk cartons would provide 132 kg of buoyancy, or about 291 lbs. Since a type I PFD is required to provide 22 lbs of buoyancy, I guess that means your boat has enough buoyancy to support about 13 adults. Sounds good to me! :-)
