I think the sentiment about not worrying about scratches on the hull, make the deck look nice is the key, no matter what materials are used on the hull. The reason behind the questions is due to the design and use of the kayak Tattoo, which by default as a 'play' kayak for rock hopping and white water use it is going to have a harder day than most.
