I am totally with Paul on this one. Being a general contractor since 1965, and still going strong, with 1000/s of hours on the table saw my only injury was a, 19 stitches required, kickback on the chin which was totally my fault. I don't trim my fingernails :) I do use feather boards and push sticks and I pay attention to what I am doing ALL THE TIME.
As far as I am concerned the most unsafe tool in the shop is the operator, the most unsafe item in an automobile is the driver, etc. To stay safe and warm I need to pay attention to what I am doing. If I do that then writing a big check is not going to make me any safer.
