The entire concept of this is scary. On one hand, if you feel you need it, perhaps you should not own power saws.

As I've said before, there are two kinds of people who get in trouble with table saws. Those who are brand new to them and don't know have to use them safely. And those who have been using them safely for years and are over confident to the point of being casual. We have a local paddling friend who falls in the later camp. After missing months of work as a professional cabinet maker due to a moment of inattention, he now owns a SawStop.

If you think your safety protocol is so well tuned that you don't need one of these saws, you are probably are a prime candidate to get one. If you are nervous enough that you think one these saws makes sense, you can probably go a few more years without it.
