Rigid has some nice tools that are a pretty good value. I like their Oscillating Belt Sander https://www.ridgid.com/us/en/oscillating-edge-belt-spindle-sander but I've now purchased 3. The first one lasted me years, but eventually it jammed up and wouldn't run. Taking it apart revealed all plastic parts in the oscillating mechanism. So I bought another. It lasted about a year before it jammed. I never registered the warranty so no replacement.

There is really nothing out their that is comparable so I bought another one. I registered it. Hopefully it will last, but inexpensive tools are inexpensive for a reason. The reason may not always be evident immediately.

I will say that contractors saws are often designed to be light weight so that they are easy to load in and out of the truck at the job site. Ripping cedar strips is not that taxing for a saw, but light weight and durable are hard to accomplish.
