I've used graphite powder many times in combination with fumed silica on hull exteriors. Works great and is very abrasion resistant.

IMO, it's the silica that's abrasion resistant. I find the graphite is actually a bit 'soft' .The 'slippery graphite' thing isn't much of an issue for me.
BTW, WEST introduced graphite powder for making low speed bearings (rudder shaft bearings and the like) where friction would expose the graphite when it was concentrated in the epoxy mix.
Somehow people morphed that idea into : Graphite is slippery; I want my boat to slide through the water; I'll add graphite to the hull bottom.
Black hulls do look very fast, though! And it's easy to cover scratches and scrapes with quick repairs.
