Here's my 2 cents: I use West 407 fairing filler (phenolic microballoons) in epoxy. PROS: The brown color matches the darker shades of western red cedar, it sands easily, it is very light so you are adding very little weight to the boat, it mixes thoroughly, no contaminants, no problems with bonding epoxy to it, it absorbs light so there are very few light beams visible through my hulls. CONS: high cost, slower cure time than most BORG available wood fillers.

I bought some phenolic microballoons from USComposites a few years ago. They worked fine, but the color was very red, almost fire engine red.
