BTW my first build was a Guillemot L. I used staples and packing tape on the hull, but could not get the clamping pressure necessary from them. I did not use them on the deck. Never used them since, in 6 more strip built boats. My last boat was also the Guillemot L. I used thinner strips (3/16" vrs the 1/4" called for), and only about 5/16 wide. These are far more flexible, and do not require nearly the clamping pressures. The sheer looks much better than I the first boat. And, when I went to bond the deck to the hull, it fit perfectly. It does take longer.

I use packing tape a lot, but never again for station form edges.
