Would just resin be ok, or do i need to cut little small patches out of glass?
Best practice would be small glass patches. You could probably get away with no glass, and used thickened epoxy to fill the low spot, but glass is better.
Should I apply resin first to the large spot, let it dry, and then put the glass and resin over it?
I would put down a dry patch of glass, epoxy it, let it set up a bit and add a fill coat.
