Also if the initial layer of varnish isn't fully dry you can end up with a follow up layer that'll take nearly forever to dry, like weeks. You definitely won't be saving time trying this.

That said, it has been done with traditional spar varnish with it applied hot, meaning heated, it dries considerably faster so a follow up coat can be added almost as soon as the first coat is finished. Also it dries so quickly that if your technique isn't spot on you'll end up with brush marks that'll be very difficult to make go away later on.
