I sliced and diced several 1x and 2x cedar light and dark boards into 1/4" thick strips several years ago with a strip kayak in mind, the Outer Island. Then I retired and downsized without a garage. The 2x are still 2x strips 8 ft in length. Some 1x were glued together to make 20'+ strips. There is quite a bit of wood. The wood is free. I live in a small subdivision about 20 miles east of Ocala, Florida.
