One advantage for boat builders is amines are generally pretty stinky, they are a relative to ammonia so they are pretty easy to detect. Most modern boat building epoxies have greatly reduced amine levels compared to what was common not too many years ago. If you go playing with industrial epoxies to try to save on the cost then all bets are off.

Still the best level of contact with epoxy is no contact.
