Strip: Emergency hole covering

I see in several posts it is recommended to carry some duct tape in one's emergency kit. I am sure most of you have seen the "Flex Steel" commercials on TV where the guy slaps a patch on a pipe with water running out of it ????
Has anyone had any experience with this stuff ?
My wife said it looks like she could vaseline her hand as a release agent, hold it over the hole, spray a couple layers of Flex Steel, remove her hand and she would be good to go . . . . . I married her for her beauty . . :)
