I built my Guillemot a few years ago and used the "keyhole" pattern in the cockpit because I thought it looked cool. My wife, who has taken a sea kayak course, now says the knee brace supports are in the wrong place. Where should the knee brace platforms be placed?

Ned:
It's possible that if you are taller than your wife, the thigh supports are in the right place for you, but too far forward for your wife. This is a very common problem with commercial boats.

Depending on the boat - how sensitive it is to fore/aft trim, and how easy it is for you to move gear/ballast, moving the seat forward so that the thigh pads contact your wife's thighs (not knees, ever, IMO- you don't want your knees touching the deck) might be the easiest solution.
