Barton speed versus Human speed

Being that Barton and the like can cruise at some incredible 8 knots or there abouts - wouldnt this guy really benefit from say a 21' hull or more, as opposed to 18 or even 19'? His power output seems like it would be far better served with a longer hull that would keep him from continualy fighting his own hull speed. I know theres the wetted surface area issue with increased length , but isnt that a small price to pay instead of him fighting his kayak which has got to be limited for the power he's creating ?

I know im overlooking something here, and that barton didnt fail to contemplate a longer yak. How can say, 18', serve both averege amateur and spectacular athlete so handidly?
