I have been looking at various kayak designs, and have read Mr. Schade's book,"The Strip-Built Sea Kayak" in an attempt to identify the optimum design for my wife and myself. Katie's primary requirement is that any boat I build is fine, as long as it accommodates both of us in the same boat. I like the Great Auk design. But it is a single. I notice, however, that on page 184 of Mr Schade's book he mentions that the Great Auk design has been modified to form a tandem by adding a second center form to increase the boat length. Is that all I would need to do (besides, of course, modifying the deck)?
