I just noticed your post. I built the Solace several years ago and really like it. I like the look of the deck although it is a little bulky in an area that just adds space to the cockpit. I have actually created a similar deck on some of my kayaks with the intent to use the space under the deck for a gear hammock. I think the hull is a lot like the pygmy coho. It is a great all around kayak. Get Robert Pruden's attention on the building forum, he knew the prior owner. I have actually created a similar deck on some of my kayaks with the intent to use the space under the deck for a gear kayak, I am building one with a similar deck right now. The hull is nothing like the waters dancing hull. My design is more rounded and efficient with less primary stability. It has a lot more flare above the water line. I have a fleet of kayaks and the Solace is one of my favorites for day paddling, photography, and fishing. The cockpit is extra long to fit a fat old guy that is no longer limber, it swallows my athletic daughter.
