rudder and speaking of wood

I would like to buy a rudder kit for my 19ft kayak, preferably the gas pedal type that is a solid footbrace for the heel while the rudder is activated by pushing with the toes. If you go to www.struer-sprintboats.com you can see the olympic K1 made entirely of wood that won the 1996 Olympics at about 13mph for 500 meters. Interesting to hear them explain how of all the possible materials, they still build the fastest boats with wood. However the problem with these sprintboats is they are so tippy you cannot imagine how round and narrow is their hull.
