When paddling areas where jellyfish are plentiful, are stings likely? If so, what are some precautions to take to avoid contact? Finally, once stung, what are the modern as well as tried and true immediate and long term remedies?

I am sure that common sense dictates that the more contact with water, the greater possible exposure to jellyfish. Does this apply to your boat and paddle? What I mean is, do jellyfish or their parts stick to hulls and paddles, later to be touched when back on the beach?

Finally, which species of jellyfish might one encounter in the Chesapeake Bay and the coastal waters of Maryland?
