My limited experience is that, in general, diving a blade has less to do with the blade shape than the hand position, twisting the loam, or poor arm sweep postion - all of which I have a great deal of experience with ;-). That said, the leading edge of a diheadral has a more vertical orientation than the leading edge of a flat blade (assuming power side down for the sweep or sculling brace). My very unscientific observation of all this is that the dihedral is less forgiving and may have an earlier critical angle when it dives.

I also believe that if my technique ever lives up to my hopes, this will be a minor point.
