Mayday, Mayday, Mayday.
Hopefully, we all know that the U.S. Coast Guard monitors channel 16 for distress/emergency calls. What about inland? Can a VHF marine radio be useful for inland emergencies. For example, I go hiking on the Appalachian Trail and my wife pushes me off a cliff and I break my leg (it could happen). Can I call someone on my VHF unit for help (Park Police, Search and Rescue Units etc.)?
Also, where is a good source for information for VHF radio use and protocol for the U.S.?
