Weathercocking question

Ive been using my new Spring Run for awhile now, and have a question.

The boat tracks a little better than I thought it would. It pretty much goes where I point it, with a few extended strokes. Yesterday I was out in to Columbia, with waves about 18". No whitecaps, so the wind was maybe 15?

If I get turned sideways, it is a devil to get pointed where I want to go, especially if room to manuever is limited. Is this a technique issue? I wasnt leaning hard, maybe that would do it. What is a good way to manuever in close quarters, in medium / high wind? Lean on an extended stroke? Does anybody practice doing loop-de-loops in the wind? If so, how?
