Here in my hometown of Ogdensburg,ny they have a boat launch about 100 yards upstream of the power dam. People put in their power boat and hopefully it will start. Today a man was floating down and made it to shore but was having a hard time getting back up to the boatlaunch so I waded out in my trusty neoprene and pulled him back up. I colud not get the profile to work so please let me tell you a little . In my town they have 2 prisons and a mental health center. When the people in the mental health center how they felt about the new prison next to them it was said,"They are probably more afraid of us than we are of them."
Maybe I fit right in with a west side boat and a kevlar glider and an old ww boat that I am afraid to use because of that red stuff that runs out when you try to do a roll in shallow water. I do love to go fast. As an old guy (50)it does make me feel good to beat people half my age in a race. Please wish me luck as I venture out unto the ST Lawrence in an 18 in wide boat. With white ethafoam I did add a rear bulkhead and will not go far from shore until I practice rolls and reentry. It is still cold water. The 1000 island area of upstate ny is a beautiful place to kayak. MY club in Brockville takes camping trips where we paddle down 20 -25 miles and camp on island. Have a good one and may God bless!
