: my family had 2 kleppers when i was growing up, one was a single and the
: other was a 2 seater. i have had both in class III and IV rappids, without
: spray skirts, yah i got a little wet, but it was the middle of summer and
: i was there to have fun.
: we only rolled the double 1 time, as you up right it most of the water will
: come out, then just just climb on while still in the water. be sure to
: have a spare set of paddle secured in the boat. the paddles you were using
: when you went for a swim most likely floated in a different direction than
: the boat.
: you can eskomo roll the single seat klepper, it is more difficult than most
: fiberglass and plastic boats to roll upright. but then again kleppers are
: designed as sea kayaks thus built to stay up right in waves.
: the wood frame will last 2 or 3 generations, and the hulls usually 1
: generation 25 to 30 years with due care.
: you can still but parts, accessories, and hulls for the klepper.
Klepper is still in business, you can buy complete boats. Not cheap though.
