The local newspaper has reported the unfortunate death of a man taking a kayaking class for beginers. His overturned kayak was discovered about 75' from shore in calm waters by a man in who just happened by in a small skiff. No details were available about where the class instructor was at the time. I'm just wondering how this could have happened? The kayaking school that offered the classes also offers tours on Buzzards Bay, including an open water crossing to Cuttyhunk Island, in which I was very interested in. I thought going on a guided tour with qualified instructors would be reasonably safe. Perhaps it just might give someone a false sense of security.
