Find advice on all aspects of kayaking and using small boats on big water

I am new... so I have a few questions...

This may be the wrong way to start but here goes.. be gentle...

I found a great deal on some used boats. My wife and I are buying 17' Wilderness System cape horn boats. I have paddled white water boats in the past. My wife is a beginner. WE are psyched so thats 50% of the battle! LOL. I have a lot of experience with Mountaineering, hiking, backpacking, orienteering, and cycling. so im no stranger to the "elements" my wife and I are comfortable swimmers, she is a swim coach and we are both healthy and in good shape. LOL...

I am always trying to get her into the outdoors more so when SHE suggested flat water boats.. i jumped on it.. found a good deal and here we go! We are not planning on hitting the open seas anytime soon. We live in Ga and live near several BIG lakes. So we will start there. Maybe go to the everglades this next spring woth a NOLS aluimni trip. So are we crazy? are we tempting death? LOL..

What is your opinion of the Wilderness systems boats? good initial and final stability? what should we work on as beginners? any avice? dont you just love these newbies who jump right on in with no experience... i promise we wil be careful. There are several clubs and stores around that i think we will look into... but any initial thoughts?

THANKS Jeff
