I just picked up the Daily News and there was a photo of two worn-out looking fellows in a double kayak. There was no story, only a caption (quoted from VI Daily News September 2, 2003):
"Glenn Wilkens and his son, Dominic, 14, returned home last week after spending 13 days kayaking around Trinidad and covering a distance of some 400 miles from their starting point in Chaguramas. Only two other people are known to have kayaked around the island."
Now let's see, 400 miles... that should take Joe O'Blenis about two days.
Seriously, these guys look like they had fun. In the photo they are grinning like a mule chewing cockleburrs. What a great thing for father and son to do. I thought they should be recognized here. I have friends in Trinidad, and if I can get any more on their story I'll post it.
