Board length calculation confusion

Submitted bydkavran onFri, 07/19/2019 - 14:11

Hi All,

i am ready to begin ripping strips for my petrel play and am confused with the materials calculator provided on this site.  Under the field where it had you enter the strip width I am not sure what value to use.  Nick says the strip width is also the width of the board, so would I enter 1.5 given I am starting with 2x10 stock, or do I enter .75 given that will be the width that I will rip the strips down to?

any help would be greatly appreciated.

 Thanks!

Spare Paddle Holder v2

Submitted byScott Innes onFri, 07/12/2019 - 07:13

Finally built a boat with a dark deck and got fed up with scratches from ferrules of spare paddle so figured we'd finish off the left over epoxy. Few layers of carbon laid inside PVC. Hard to find a simpler project, but fulfils intended purpose well.

Waves took v1 to the bottom of Lake Ontario last year so retainer strap added.

Dear Mr. Admin.

On another aircraft forum, after posting a reply, we have a timed "edit" option that allows the poster approx. 5 minutes to edit their post. Comes in extremely handy for correcting spelling, grammar, etc. Just a suggestion :)

And, again, it could be available here already and I am just not seeing it ?

Night Heron re-do

I recently completed an extensive refurbishment of my Night Heron strip-built created back in 2012...which was looking quite beat up.

This Night Heron has served me well and paddles beautifully...especially for distance work.   The hull is the original design per Nick's drawings.  And the deck is custom to take some queues from the Petrel....and to fit me and my paddling style which needs a bit of knee bend.

im going to be doing some prototyping on a strip build paddle board, it is a bit of a unique design, not really surfboard based as the majority of what you see out there are.  i am using basic dimensions of production SUP boards as a baseline, so i might get lucky and get the stability and maneuverability right the first time, but i really don't want to waste the materials on an "experiment", it is just for personal use too so there is no "investment" here for later return.  in the future i may mess around with my own kayak, mostly because i enjoy building and adjusting as opposed to just b

I need cockpit covers and skirts for a Guillemot "L" and a Petrel. I have tried Snapdragon, Skirtfit and Seals for a custom build and gotten zero replies from anyone. All that seems available are standard skirts for waist sizes and no idea what size cockpit they will cover as they are all for factory boats.

Looking for any suggestions on what would fit or where to go to get a custom fit.

Thank  you,

Randy
