A very pedestrian type of question, but since you guys are good with ingenious, outside-the-box suggestions, I'll ask anyway :) I need to mask off my cockpit coaming for painting. Of course, Big Box has all kinds of Blue tape and Frog tape, but I want something flexible enough to make the curve at the front of the coaming, like about a 3" radius. Thin foam strips?

Many times when a body shop needs to wrap around a tight curve, they use wide tape and just overlap as necessary then cut the curve edge with an Exacto knife. Its fast and clean. Even doing a perfectly straight edge. Its easier to put down tape and cut that edge with a razor and a straight edge rather than trying to pull the tape along a straight line. That cut edge will be perfect.

I do as Jay suggests when I need to mask around a curve.
I bond hatch rims to decks with epoxy and mask to leave a clean edge to the (black) epoxy.
A stick taped to a luthier knife blade makes a good tool to follow the curve (using the hatch rim as a guide) and cuts the tape cleanly.
