Larry, your method will work perfectly. One thing you can do is - once the boat is taped together (not fiberglassed) pry open the bow and stern tips and epoxy them together and re-tape them shut - then proceed with your interior glass taping. The end pours give you a solid block to drill into for grap loops. You could get around this with your proposed method or just use wood. I build a dam and fill the tips about 1 1/2 inches from the ends with epoxy putty.You can also use a tube that the grab loops go into. Even without the end pour, the bow and stern tips are probably the strongest parts on a strip kayak. You just want to make sure that their epoxied together. By pushing and shoving tape down from the inside, you're never sure you did the job or got all the way up to the ends.
