I have been using a scraper to remove runs in the epoxy and to feather the edges of the tape - it does a fantastic job - saves all kinds of sanding!

I purchased a Sandvik #440 scraper (~ $15.00 Cndn at Home Depot) that has a carbide blade. The blade holder is cast aluminum and it has a large padded handle. The carbide blade is double edged and replaceable - I have not managed to wear out the first edge yet.

This is a good size tool allowing two handed operation and excellent control. As with any tool capable of removing lots of material - proceed with caution until you get used to it.

Also works well on epoxy that is set but still too soft to sand. I filled some scratches in my friend's canoe and scraped the extra epoxy flush and smooth to the surrounding surface - no problem.

Check it out - the carbide is suposed to last 50 times as long as a regular blade.

I would rather be paddling that sanding!
