I did it, and it worked fine. I boiled a sample before building my CC18, and have had no problems. I then bought another sheet and built a boat for my daughter, without the epoxy coating. Her's is delaminating at the edges. I suspect the epoxy is keeping my first boat healthy, but it is possible the second plywood purchase was from a different manufacturer.

As an aside, the CC boat called for, I think, 4mm, so I did some fancy laminating of the 1/8" birch to make it as strong. If I had it to do again, I'd bite the bullet and buy the right stuff. The extra cost is small compared to the other costs (and the time) involved in building.

Aircraft birch plywood specs are superior to marine plywood, but it is even more expensive, and difficult to get in long sheets.
