I put to much epoxy on the hulls of the two previous kayaks I built, and they a little over 50 lbs. I want to keep this North Bay at 40 lbs.

I have glassed the hull of my North Bay and the hull now weighs 25 lbs.(11.33 kg.). I used a scraper to remove a lot of the epoxy during application of three very thin coats and I can just about see the weave of the cloth. I plan to install VCP hatches and hope to keep the weight at 40 lbs.(18 kg.)

As for the under side of the deck and inside th hull, I will only use one coat of epoxy. I did that on other kayaks I built and it seems to be OK so far.
