Toni, I am almost done building my wife's Arctic Tern. I have a multi-chine Osprey Std. which was finished in the spring. My wife liked paddling the Osprey so much I was informed I had to build her one. I decided to build the Tern because I thought it would be more stable on the water. Initial stability of the multi-chine Osprey is nothing to worry about. The boat feels like it wants to flip over as soon as you get in it, but it is something you get used to. Believe me, nothing worse than feeling like you've put 100+ hours into building a kayak with the wrong chosen hull design. I let Pygmy know about my concerns, since I am new to paddling like alot of people these days. They said it was something you get used to, like riding a bike-they were exactly right. The multi-chine design is easy to get in and out of after paddling it for a few weeks, and like I stated before, my wife liked it so much she had me order another kit from Pygmy. So here I am about to take the Tern on its maiden voyage, and I'm thinking now that the hard-chine design really doesn't matter as much as I originally thought (and worried over). The Tern was easier to build since it has less panels. I imagine your husband would be happy with either hull shape. As far as Pygmy, from experience I can only say they have helped on the phone (I've only had to call 3 or 4 times total while building both boats), and provided good components and instructions. I couldn't be happier the way both boats turned out. If I build a third, it will definitely be another Pygmy...
