The Triak, basically a kayak with drop keel, pontoons and sails is claimed by the manufacturer to reach top speeds of 15 to 20 miles per hour. Im curious why with all the creativety displayed at this board ive not seen the mention of anyone making a strip-sail-kayak. It seems like the modifications would be relatively minor and the results, dynamic to say the least. True paddleing is paddleing and it will always stand on its own merits. Still tho, the Triak kind of sail/kayak seems like such a logical direction to expand in. Hell, somebody circumnavigated Cuba with one!
Im still gathering tools and materialsd for my first strip, but the sail kayak, done properly is soimething I ponder for an upcoming project. And incidentaly, has anyone thought of building two "kayaks", mounting them together and calling it a Catamaran?
