Hi Byron, my first pygmy simply had a butt block of 4mm wood then glass on both sides, doesn't the existing method from the manual have that 4oz tape on both sides, then one layer of 6oz on the outside with 2or3 layers on the inside? My gut feeling is that the joint having two layers on the outside,one 3" then the entire hull covering, and the same on the inside is plenty strong, I would still put a third layer on the inside.

I'm going to stay out of reccomendations as I'm in hot water already, My sense is that two layers of 6oz is just right for two pieces of flat wood, an extra one on the inside of a completed hull is my kind of overkill
