I'm getting ready to lay the first strips on my Outer Island. The instructions call for starting at the shear with a 1/2-width strip. Unfortunately, I don't think I've cut enough 1/2-width strips. I'm building in my apartment living room so taking strips out to be cut will be a bit of a hassle. Does anyone see a problem with starting with a full-width strip on the hull at the shear? The forms are fairly flat on the hull side of the shear, it's on the deck that the 1/2-strips seem most necessary. In referring to Nick's book, it looks like he just starts of with full-width strips. I guess I just need a bit of reinforcement before laying the first strips.
I've e-mailed Jay Babina, but thought I'd post this here, too, since I hope to lay a few strips this weekend and wasn't sure if I'd hear back from Jay on such short notice.
Thanks in advance Dean
B.T.W.-I hope to post some pix of my living room/workshop one of these days...
