Youre right about the rags for sure. I usually wet sand w/ 220 just to get the surface clean with running water. Perhaps I've been lucky.

Try this: Take a clean glass out of the dishwasher, and put some alcohol in it. Then let it evaporate out. Whatever is left is contaminate.
