I keep forgetting that when people talk painting I think of spraying and they are thinking brush or roller.
I also tend to think of two component paints as opposed to the single component finishes.
I suggested clearing the whole boat because it would protect the graphics plus add more UV protection to the kayak. I think that polishing the boat would be detrimental to the graphics plus cured marine paint would probably be hard to polish. Very time consuming and you would have to sand with about 1000 grit.
I apologise for the discrepancies, I was thinking that once you had sanded the boat and had the graphics painted, it would take about one hour to spray 3 coats of two component clear. It would be dust free in 1/2 hour and dry overnight. Full cure would take 4 to six weeks but you would be able to paddle the day after spraying.
Once again I forgot that these products can't be used at home, and you probably don't have access to the equipment needed to use them.
I am not really up to speed on the single component products and haven't bothered reading about them as I will be using the two stage on my own kayak.
I will try to remember next time, Ian
