This kayak will almost always be paddled by my wife, son and myself. I might take out a friend once in a while in which case the center will be empty. I'll have a hatch cover on then.

Paul, I did a search for Paul Stomski, but didn't get any hits. I think you're talking about the guy from Hawaii that made it an open cockpit, right?

I modified the design with the single size cockpits. I like how it looks. I think I'll print out the single and the double cockpits, and cut out pieces of cardboard that matches the cutouts. Then I'll put them on something so they are above the floor. I'll then climb in and see how tight they are. I'll have to have my wife give it a try also.
