I dont see any difference

A thickness planer has drive rollers that (hopefully) keep this from happening. I honestly have never seen this happen with a router table. I'm repeating what I've read in woodworking books and magazines by persons far more expert than myself. I have seen it happen with a table saw--a co-worker was severely bruised in an extremely sensitive and personal area. A few months ago on this or another bulletin board someone discribed what a projectile launched by a table saw did to the radiator of his jeep after, as I remember it, passing through the wall of his garage. I've also seen a maze of scars in a man's belly from a similar accident with an industrial saw. Now a table saw has more torque, admittedly, but not near the speed of a router. Ya pays yer dime and takes yer chances.

If the width varies I'd probably pass them through a table saw. I've had a little experience with uneven width strips and I don't want to repeat it. On my strip built canoe I had gaps enough just from the curves of the bilge. Using uneven width strips made them bigger where ever I had to join strips.
Good luck. Tom.
