The search for a suitable river kayak continues...... thx to all for answering my previous questions. I have narrowed the list down to 3. The Pygmy Coho, CLCs' West River or Chessie 16. My biggest concern at this point is draft. This being a big concern as the rivers i frequent are 12" or less depth at many places. The main reason i want a bigger boat is that i frequently go on long trips. The last trip was 9 days on the New River in western NC from its headwater in Boone NC to the conflunece of the New and Gauley river in WVA. Everytime i go on a long trip i wish i had a suitable wooden boat that i built myself instead of the horrible plactic thing i took. I love my Yare, but lets face it it just dont hold enough for a comfortable overnighter. Any advice about the draft of these boats would be much appreciated.
