Excuse me, Paul,

but... doesn't this description make for flat sawn strips, aka "evil" strips? I drew myself a picture of the cross section of a strip and if I put the growth rings on the final strips roughly parallel to the wide side, it looks flat sawn to me. Roughly perpendicular is what I think is vertical sawn.

Please advise. I read your posts and always learn something from them.
