I found the wiring at the chines was pretty much for alignment purposes, and the hot glue helps maintain the shape, holding each panel flush against the temporary frame. Stitching alone at the chines would not be sufficient to give shape, or for it to be strong enough for what you have to do with it until it's time to remove the temp. frames. As for the hot glue, it doesn't saturate into the wood. Removing it IS a pain though, especially at the bow and stern stems. I ruined a 4.00 Radio Shack soldering iron reheating and removing the glue enough to get the frames out. Once they were out, a paint scraper, some acetone (wear a filtered respirator), and sanding returned the wood to like new and it took epoxy saturation and glassing with ease.
