There's nothing I can add to what lee, Don, erez, and Rehd have to say. But I do think that a S&G kayak looks better with a painted hull and bright deck. Look at all the CLC display boats. I left my Cape Charles varnished for a year before I painted the hull dark green. And I painted the hull of my Patuxent black as soon as the epoxy was cured.
