Hi Carl - Nice to meet you.
I may have the problem solved - I called a lumberyard in the next town and they claim to have very clear S4S red cedar and sugar pine in widths to 12" and lengths to 12" - - In 1x10 the cost is 3.35/3.50 lin ft resectively. Also, Ross put me on to Mac McCarthy the canoe builder right here in my town!
