I am going to be building some composite paddle blades using the Shawn Baker split bucket over a set of curved forms method to get the slight bend in the blade.
Any comments on how many layers of glass or carbon fiber to be using?
My first blade is planned to be 2 layers of 6 oz. carbon fiber with a 2" wide strip of CF tape down the power axis. I would then encase the blade with S-glass on both sides.
I have enough 6 oz. FG, 8.75 oz tight weave FG, 10 oz FG, 6 oz carbon fiber, and 2" wide CF tape to lay up a few combinations for strength vs. blade flex.
Any ideas or recommendations are appreciated.
Thanks, Pete Albany, NY
