Thanks Kent. I'm working on the building page, but it's not quite ready yet. Usually I go ahead post the pages as "works in progress" and just add pictures as I go. For the paddle building, it occurred to me that it would be really nice if I could cross-reference between the plans and the construction. I got in touch with Chuck Holst, and he gave me permission to convert his pdf file to html, and add links back and forth. I'm still building the pages, and I've asked Chuck to give it his stamp of approval before I release them for primetime. I'll keep you posted.

As far as gluing the blank, I started with a 1"x6"x8' plank of flat-sawn Aspen, cut it into 3/4"x3/4" strips, rotated 2 of them 90 deg in opposite directions to form the center spine. In the paddle areas, I added a strip of Cedar and another strip of Aspen on either side of the two center strips. This formed the middle laminations. I then added 1/4" thick partial layer of Redwood on either side, and finally a 1/8" strip of Walnut on the loom and onto the blade about 9". The rest of the process is an exercise in wood removal.
